Sculptra by Galderma is an advanced medical-grade injectable dermal filler that effectively treats signs of aging. This minimally invasive treatment option helps people reduce their facial wrinkles and restore facial structure. At Enfuse Medical Spa & Hair Restoration, we provide Sculptra to Chicago patients.
What Is Sculptra?
As people grow older, their skin loses volume and slowly accumulates wrinkles as its rate of collagen production decreases. Sculptra by Galderma is a type of injectable called a collagen stimulator. It increases the collagen production rate gradually in order to combat volume loss and wrinkles, creating very natural results.

How Does Sculptra Work?
It is made up of PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid). It is synthetic, biodegradable, and biocompatible. This mimics the body’s natural lactic acid, increasing the production of collagen in the skin tissues.
As new collagen grows over the coming months, volume is restored to depressed facial areas like hollow temples, cheeks, and the jawline. This also addresses moderate to harsh wrinkles like parentheses lines, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds.
Studies have shown that the long-lasting effects of Sculptra not only reduce facial wrinkles but also increase the thickness of the patient’s skin. Around 80% of the patients who tried Sculptra still enjoyed skin-rejuvenation results around 2 years after their treatment session.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Sculptra Treatment?
Sculptra candidates have moderate or deep wrinkles or hollow facial areas that they want to restore volume to. Individuals who want to address signs of aging without cosmetic surgery are ideal candidates for a Sculptra treatment. This treatment option involves no scalpels, incisions, or long frustrating healing periods.
Men and women between 25 and 75 years old are great candidates for a Sculptra treatment. People who want very natural-looking results from their fillers are also excellent candidates.
Not everyone is an ideal candidate for a Sculptra treatment. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are recommended to delay the treatment. Anyone below 18 years old is also not a good candidate for Sculptra.
Certain skin conditions will also disqualify a patient from a Sculptra treatment, such as skin infections; patients must treat these before Sculptra injections can be performed. Those who are susceptible to keloids or scarring are not good candidates.
Patients regularly taking medications such as blood thinners and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs must discuss these during their consultation.
Patients who want to see immediate results after their treatment session are not suitable for Sculptra and may prefer one of our other dermal fillers.
If you are looking for a way to reduce fine age lines like crow’s feet, you will be better served by an injectable neuromodulator treatment like Dysport.
Your Consultation
During your consultation, you will tell us about the wrinkles or depressed regions you would like us to treat with Sculptra. We will closely examine these regions, and we will also evaluate your complete medical history.
We will discuss the details of treatment with Sculptra, including preparation, the procedure, aftercare, and potential cost. Please ask any questions you may have regarding the treatment. Finally, we will create a personalized treatment plan to help achieve your beauty goals. We will set a date for your treatment session at the convenience of your schedule.
Your Sculptra Session
This treatment session can be finished within 30 minutes. The exact duration will depend on the treated areas and the number of injections needed. The treatment area will be disinfected. A topical anesthetic will be administered to prepare the patient for the treatment.
The Sculptra filler will be injected using a tiny needle into the chosen areas. After injecting the Sculptra fillers, the treatment areas will be massaged to evenly distribute Sculptra within the target facial areas. The treated regions will be cleansed after the treatment.
Aftercare
The patient will be able to go home or get back to their job right after the Sculptra treatment session. Although patients may experience minor bruising, redness, and/or swelling after the treatment, they can still go back to their regular activities without the need for a recovery period.
Patients will be provided with aftercare instructions. This will include massaging steps, which are easy for the patient to perform. It will be necessary to avoid sun exposure in order to minimize post-treatment symptoms.
How Much Does a Sculptra Treatment Cost?
The price for Sculptra treatment is determined based on the amount of product used and the number of injections needed to achieve the patient’s goals. If multiple sessions are needed, it may also impact the overall cost. Financing options and promotions may be discussed during the consultation.
